I really like the idea of instant mashed potatoes, and these were as good as could be expected. Of course, they do not mimic the kind of (intentionally chunky) smashed potatoes I make from scratch, but they are a fine substitute for the 1950s, suburban type. Well, actually, they probably had instant then, too. We bought the roasted garlic and Chreesy types, and were somewhat disappointed by the mildness of the roasted garlic flavor. We could barely tell what flavor it was supposed to be, it tasted plain. The Chreesy flavor did have more of the nutritional yeast "cheese" flavor I was expecting, which is inherently mild, as well, but not in a bad way. We used it as a topping for a vegan shepherd's pie, and it was very well suited to this purpose. I recommend adding a little more liquid than recommended on the box. Otherwise, the end result is too dry.
The Garlic and Chreesey versions are ok, but the Home Style potatoes are perfectly seasoned and so delicious! I recommend making them with almond milk, because they turn out better than if you use soy or oat milk. My sweetie and I LOVE this product.
