With its vines dating back to the late 1990s, this wine benefits from a cool, foggy climate that imparts remarkable freshness and complexity. Whole-cluster pressing and 16 months of aging in neutral French Oak barriques contribute to its refined profile.

The Central Coast Hazel wines are a collaborative effort between Vegan Wines and Alex Katz of Protector Cellars. Katz, who founded the world’s first "beyond carbon neutral" winery, brings his extensive experience from crafting wines in Santa Barbara County under La Fenetre and Timbre labels.

While Protector Cellars primarily focuses on Bordeaux varietals, Katz’s fascination with the Santa Maria Valley’s Chardonnay and Pinot Noir prompted him to explore these exceptional varieties for the Hazel label. This collaboration highlights the unique characteristics of the region, reflecting both Katz’s expertise and the area's distinctive terroir.
