The flavor profile leans Japanese with definite wasabi notes. It's not as strong as real fish sauce, so you have to add more of it, so it adds more of its own flavor to dishes. Good to season rice or add some fishy flavor to stir fry but I wish it were much funkier/more fermented-tasting and a little saltier.
Not only does this sub for fish sauce, it is a delicious dipping sauce on its own. I've used this in all sorts of things, but my fave is as a dipping sauce. Buy it, you'll love it.
Great product!
Someone mentioned that there was a new vegan fish sauce online and I found this one "Fysh", clever. I like that it has organic seaweed in it and that it adds just the right amount of flavor to my noodle dishes.
I wonder why this wasn't available sooner, it's brilliant. Sure, using soy sauce when a recipe called for fish sauce is acceptable - this adds a lot more flavor. It's really quite good!
